Building A Trustworthy Perfume Review Library
We are commissioning a long-form review program that pairs historical research with hands-on wear testing. Until the first dossiers publish, this page documents the standards we are holding ourselves to.
What Guides Our Reviews
Accuracy and context matter more than hype. These pillars shape every review before it reaches readers.
Every review will situate a fragrance within perfumery history—who created it, why it mattered, and how it fits within wider scent movements.
We document ingredients, IFRA guidance, reformulations, and sourcing where available, crediting manufacturers and perfumers directly.
Longevity, sillage, and evolution will be captured through structured wear logs rather than scoreboard-style ratings.
How A Review Comes Together
From the first archive visit to the final fact-check, every dossier follows the same workflow.
Primary sources, archival marketing, and verified batch data inform each dossier before any opinion is drafted.
Multiple testers cover different climates and skin chemistries, recording observations over at least three full wears.
Findings are synthesized into narrative summaries with citations, after which subject-matter experts sanity-check claims.
Help Shape The Library
Community archivists, collectors, and perfumers make rigorous reporting possible—here’s how you can help.
Point us toward vintage batches, under-documented niche houses, or reformulation rumors that deserve clarity.
Catalog scans, Osmothèque notes, lab analyses, and perfumer interviews keep the archive honest and useful.
Experienced reviewers can join controlled wear-tests—tell us about your collection and scent preferences.
